Barber shops and car wash in Cheshire towns caught using illegal workers

Two barber shops and a hand car wash are the latest Cheshire businesses to be hit with fines for the use of illegal workers, according to the Government.

The firms – based in Crewe and Warrington – received fines totalling £35,000, the most recent Government data shows.

London One Barber, located on Edleston Road in Crewe, was handed a £15,000 civil penalty for illegal working,

Neighbouring businesses Famous Fade Barber and Soapy’s Hand Car Wash, both based at 82 Old Liverpool Road in Warrington each received a £10,000 fine, according to the Government update.

The trio of businesses were among 16 employers in the north west region to be punished, including shops and restaurants, with fines dished out totalling £200,000.

The data in the latest Government report covers the period of October 1 to December 31 last year.

When CheshireLive tried to contact London One Barber and Soapy’s Hand Car Wash there was no answer. The hand car wash firm was dissolved in March this year, according to Companies House.

CheshireLive contacted Famous Fade Barber who claimed there was no fine relating to the business.
