Baywater Healthcare have been named award winners at the Health Tech Digital Awards 2023. Winning the ‘Best COVID-19 Software Solution to Support Virtual Clinics’ award.
Baywater Healthcare, head office based on Electra Way, Crewe is an independent specialist provider of healthcare services to patients with long-term conditions delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions with care closer to home.
They were nominated for the award for their Virtual Ward solution. Their Virtual Ward is a web-based platform that allows patients and providers to access the same patient data from any location. They have built-in alerts and reminders to help to ensure that patients receive timely care and follow-up. In addition, their cloud-based architecture makes it easier to integrate with NHS systems, and its advanced analytics capabilities make it easier to identify trends. Their system’s intelligent workflow automation help streamline the care process and reduce administrative burdens on clinicians. They work closely with our NHS customers to create bespoke, adaptable services to meet changing requirements. The system has since been adapted to ensure Baywater can monitor any long-term condition via their virtual Ward under the same mechanism.
Set up in 2020, working alongside Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group, the Virtual Ward service was rapidly mobilised within two weeks to provide the NHS with a remote solution to monitor their COVID-19 patients. They responded instantly to changes throughout the pandemic based on government guidelines. Their service was provided seven days a week to ensure someone was always contactable.
Baywater Healthcare Technicians completed doorstep drops and conducted three-way calls with patients to train them on the solution. The service was inclusive to all; They provided tablets, smartphones, and pulse oximeters for patients to submit readings. They also accepted readings over the telephone to support patients who were not familiar or comfortable with technology and helped patients to use their own devices. This assisted our NHS in the pressures it faced during this time by reducing the need for hospital admissions.
“This award is fantastic recognition for our team who worked around the clock to mobilise this innovative solution, almost overnight. Over 7500 people in Gloucestershire directly benefitted from our Virtual Ward technology, enabling them to receive around the clock monitoring of their COVID-19 recovery. I would also like to thank everyone within the local NHS for the incredible work they did to support those in need throughout the pandemic.”
