Cat dies after being ‘shot with pellet gun’ on Crewe estate

The animal was found injured after the attack but had to be put to sleep

A cat has died after it was shot with a pellet gun in Crewe. Police received reports at 9.10pm on Sunday (January 15) that the animal was found injured on Fanshawe Walk, in the Brookhouse estate.

Cheshire Police confirmed that it was believed the cat had been shot with ‘a type of pellet gun’ but it is not clear what time the attack had taken place.

Residents had reported on social media that the cat had been found injured in a garden on the Brookhouse estate but had to be put to sleep as a result of the injuries it sustained.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “At around 9.10pm on Sunday 15 January, officers received reports that a cat had been found injured at an address in Fanshawe Walk, Crewe.

“It is believed that the cat had been shot with a type of pellet gun. It is not clear at this time when the attack may have taken place.”
