Cheshire coronavirus rates and how they compare to neighbouring counties

The number of positive COVID-19 cases is starting to drop across Cheshire.

Updated figures have now revealed how Cheshire’s infection rate compares to its surrounding neighbours.

The data, released by Public Health England (PHE), shows the infection rate for each area of the country.

It provides a seven day rolling rate along with the number of cases for the seven days to January 29.

The data shows the coronavirus infection rate per 100,000 people in any given area.

For Cheshire West and Chester, the infection rate was 267.9 per 100,000 with 919 cases over seven days.

Cheshire East had the lowest infection rate out of the areas we looked at, with 195.2 per 100,000 with 750 cases over seven days.

Warrington was fairly high up the list, with an infection rate of 340 per 100,000 and 714 cases over seven days.

Meanwhile, Halton sat high up the list, with an infection rate of 433.5 per 100,000 with 561 cases over seven days.

Knowsley had the highest infection rate on the list, with 552.8 per 100,000 people.
