One firm was hit with a whopping £120,000 fine
Seven Cheshire businesses have been hit with fines for the use of illegal workers, according to latest Government data. The firms – based in Chester, Ellesmere Port, Macclesfield, Runcorn, Warrington and Widnes – received fines totalling £365,000.
They include barbers, takeaways and a car wash site. The most recent Government update on illegal working civil penalties covers the period of July 1 to September 30 last year.
Here are the Cheshire firms that have been fined during that period:
- Ibrahim Khalid, IBO Barber, Brook Street, Chester, £40,000
- Muhammad Irfan, Frankie’s Chicken and Pizza, Marina Drive, Ellesmere Port, £40,000
- Bollington News Ltd, Bollington Cross Stores, Ovenhouse Lane, Macclesfield, £40,000
- Two Brothers Barber Warrington Ltd, Two Brothers No 2, Marsh House Lane, Warrington, £40,000
- Top Car Wash 01 Ltd, Lymm Hand Car Wash, Knutsford Road, Warrington, £120,000
- Essah & Kamran Ltd, Kami Peri Peri, High Street, Runcorn, £40,000
- Red Cherry Retail Ltd, Today’s Extra, Albert Road, Widnes, £45,000
The Government website states: “This quarterly report lists employers in the UK that have received fines (civil penalties) for illegal working. The report lists fines given to employers who have not paid or are not making regular payments towards a penalty 28 days after they have exhausted all their objection and/or appeal rights.
“Employers who have been served with a second or further penalty once they have exhausted all their objection and/or appeal rights regardless of whether any payment has been made.”
