Crewe Alex are at home to Gillingham this weekend
Crewe boss Alex Morris hopeful striker Courtney Baker-Richardson will soon be back in action after the top scorer was forced out of Saturday’s goalless draw at Carlisle.
The 26 year old has netted seven goals in 12 appearances since Morris brought him in on a free from Newport County in the summer. So, his absence was a blow at the weekend as both sides struggled to create in the stalemate.
Speaking after the game, Morris told the club: “We are hoping that is not too serious, we will know more on Monday. It is an area of his body where he has had issues before, and he did it in an innocuous way which is about right for us at the minute with injuries.
“He did it playing on his Xbox I think. Just dropped his leg on the sofa and tweaked it. There’s nothing we can do about that. He has had treatment and hopefully by Monday it will have settled down.
“If it’s not settled down then that’s not a good sign because it would mean it would need scanning to see if it is a recurrence of what he has had previously at Newport.”
