Driver caught on phone attempts ridiculous excuse to police

A driver gave an ‘interesting’ excuse after being caught using their mobile phone at the wheel.

Cheshire Police pulled over the driver of a red Vauxhall Corsa on Monday, May 31, after they were caught with their mobile.

The bizarre response came after officers from the Roads and Crime Unit asked the driver why they had a phone in their hand.

The motorist said: “I was just telling the person on the other end that I couldn’t talk because it is dangerous to do that on the motorway”.

A tweet by North West Motorway Police this afternoon revealed the amusing exchange, which landed the driver a traffic offence report (TOR).
