See if a new store could be opening where you live
Lidl has unveiled hundreds of target locations throughout Britain where it is looking to establish new stores – including 23 in Cheshire. All proposed locations are outlined in the retailer’s newly published Site Requirements Brochure, released last week.
The supermarket retailer is actively pursuing freehold, leasehold, or long-leasehold plots in high-profile areas boasting strong footfall and convenient access. Lidl announced it would offer a ‘competitive finder’s fee’ to anyone who successfully pinpoints a previously unidentified site that ultimately results in a new store being built.
Spanning locations the length and breadth of the country, the chain confirmed that each new outlet would create high-quality employment opportunities for local residents, with some of the most attractive benefits packages in the industry. Entry-level hourly wages stand at £13.45 nationally, rising to £14.45 with length of service, reports the Mirror.
Richard Taylor, Chief Real Estate Officer at Lidl GB, said: “At Lidl GB, we currently have one of the most ambitious store opening programmes of any supermarket and we are more committed than ever to bringing our high quality and low priced products to even more communities across the country. All of our stores deliver more than just affordable products. Each one also brings quality jobs, opportunities for British suppliers to showcase the best of our home grown produce and support to local good causes in the communities each one serves. In uncertain times, shoppers and communities can count on us.”
At the beginning of this month, Lidl GB announced intentions to launch over 50 additional stores within the coming year as part of a £600million capital injection. The retailer has maintained an unbroken 33-month run as the UK’s fastest-expanding physical supermarket chain, with the release of its latest site targets demonstrating a clear commitment to sustained rapid growth following the launch of its 1,000th branch in East Grinstead last November.
Each outlet partners with neighbourhood charities, and through its excess food donation programme, managed via Neighbourly, Lidl delivered 18.5 million meals, assisting 6.8 million individuals facing hardship within a single year.
