Cheshire has been hit with a 29-hour weather warning for rain as the county braces itself for huge downpours tomorrow (May 22). The yellow warning issued by the Met Office is in place from 12.15am on Wednesday until 6am the following day.
Forecasters say the conditions will come courtesy of an ‘area of low pressure’ approaching the UK from the east. That low pressure is expected to bring with it ‘heavy and prolonged rainfall’.
Dan Rudman, who is deputy chief meteorologist with the Met Office, said: “Low pressure is going to influence our weather from the middle of this week, bringing some heavy rain to parts of the UK.
“Eastern areas are most likely to see the highest rainfall accumulations, though this will depend on the precise positioning of the low pressure. It is important to keep an eye on the forecast as the detail becomes clearer, and it is possible Severe Weather Warnings will also be issued.”
Currently tomorrow’s forecast shows not even any intervals of light rain – just heavy downpours. Temperatures will reach highs of 15C.
Eventually the rain will ease up by around 1pm on Thursday. Heading towards the weekend, rain will gradually clear by Friday, with brighter skies and a few showers possible. Many places will be drier on Saturday, but showers will move into the west later on in the day.
